Stay safe online without getting ripped off. Here are a few tips.
The internet is full of scams. Even I get emails and some of the newbies will try to exploit my devices at times.
Here is how you cankeep yourself safe online, without losing money or your sanity to low-level scammers.
1. Stay informed. Alot of people think that with age, they need less technology. This may be true in some cases, but technology rules almost everything we do and how we interact. Make sure you subscribe to at a couple technology based newsletters. Android and iPhone hacks are becoming more complex, but hackers are constantly learning. The technology moves so quickly sometimes that even the most advanced hackers become frustrated with it all.
2. Never open files from strangers. No movies, no pictures, no PDF's, no .TXT, none of it! Unless you are sure of where it came from, do not open anything. This is a surefire way to get yourself into a jam. Malicious files are being scripted everydyay andyou don't need to be on the receiving end of one of them.
3. If you get a call from someone with an accent from India, Africa, or any other place and they want to sell you something, even cheap, NO! They have some good ones now like insurance upgrdes, policy renewals, mortgage rate decreases, debt forgiveness, and more. They reallly just want to get a hold of your debit or credt card and basic info. I know this because the list of debit cards crosses my desk every day. I can buy 1000's of debit cards for about $20 USD. Be smart. Just say no and block the number.
When hiring a hacker online, the best thing you can do for yourself is go to FakeHackers.com first and see the list of scammers. It's free and the list updates constantly.
Some people want to access the social media accounts of other people. It is important to note that this process takes time, and is complex. The average person would find it impossible without proper training and the resources necessary to accomplish this. Guess what? Indians are calling me all day trying to get me to hack stuff. for free. Yes, that right. They want me to help them in the name of God, and call me a scam and a fake when I refuse to help them. They all must sit in the same room and teach each other to be idiots because it's the exact same line every time.
